Ocean tornadoes

We were near the ocean, in a city with high-rises, both my parents were there.  We had taken a long drive out that day into the hills, but as we were driving back the sky turned more ominous.  All indications were that things weren’t going to go well.  If the insanity of the days before were any indication (mysterious strangers, people I hadn’t known for years suddenly reappearing from the depths of my past only to be shot in the face, visions of red red red, sudden evil children) things were only going to get weirder.  The television said there were ocean-effect tornadoes coming toward us, and that everyone should get to the lowest floor of all buildings.  That would be difficult from our top-floor penthouse suite.  I ran up to the top of the building to see if there were any I could bend away from us.  This was when i realized that the top of the building was more than a heliport, it also had a small zen tea house looking structure.  I approached, but was silenced immediately by my brother.  “They’re chi masters.  They’re keeping us safe.  They’re moving the ocean tornadoes away from  us.”  Chi masters?  In this city?  something felt wrong, but i could feel the sway of their push, and lo! the ocean calmed and the sky turned blue again.  My alarm bells were still going off like mad, and suddenly my eyes  were taken to the horizon.  What i hadn’t seen before the sky was cleared i now saw clearly: a giant funnel cloud, at least five miles across, so large to looks like a part of the horizon.  A sudden electricity came in off the water, and I saw…out across the bay….something moving.  “What -is- that?” said the person next to me.  “Oh no,” I said.  “It’s the dam!”  The panic bit into us then, and the chi masters, all four of them, came busting out of their tea shack just in time to see the flamingo pink apartment complex across the bay being reclaimed by the sea.

I knew I could’ve prevented that, if only I hadn’t been silenced.
